The training is very thorough and long. That does not mean you will not have questions outside of this when handling cases. Policies change frequently which leads to frustration and no concrete answers.
There will always be complaints if you ask too many questions, or mockery for too few. You won't find out something is incorrect until much later and then your actions will be questioned. Supervisors use the term management ALL day everyday.
Team meetings are usually for supervisors to complain about management and whine about how many meetings they have and how busy they are. Some supervisors can be very passive but when management cracks down, suddenly everything becomes unacceptable. Your supervisor won't question you until management wants answers from them, otherwise your are ignored. There's also a certain degree of unprofessionalism but that can be expected in any work place.
Still, it's alarming to hear leadership laugh about who looks like they have covid. For so many complaints about unacceptable work behaviors, one would think this crosses the line.
The hardest part of the job is the everchanging nonsense relayed from supervisors and management. It becomes inconsistent and you learn what to tune out. The most enjoyable part if this job is getting a personal routine going to help you get through the day.

Yes No. Like North Korea, but less efficient. There are a few angels who work here, and God bless them. Eventually then toll of handing out benefits to people making more money than me, while I couldn't feed my family on the salary even with overtime, ground me down. Management will choose who they like or don't, and that's the program. If you're a manager congrats: requires OT, no pay. Mid management requires fealty to their opinions even if its horse spit and they don't like to hear otherwise.
I did try to help people. And sadly an original perspective at my center. But that isn't true of all of them Management will.
Pros It makes every job after seem. Rewarding in the terms of managerial support and learning. Pay very lackluster compared to workload. A great department with great ambitious workers. I worked here during the peak of the pandemic and policies were ever changing which caused madness amongst adjudicators.
However, that's how a governmental body works. So, unless you are ready to face that reality, look elsewhere. The atmosphere is great and you meet amazing folks. There are some managers that are really amazing however, there are the ones those can have night sweats about.
Overall, the work here is rewarding. The case loads are fair and entertaining to say the least. You stay busy with plenty of space and time to breathe. The worst part about it is that it was a temp position scheduled at 40 hours a week with weak pay, mediocre benefits, and NO PTO. They work you like trenchmen during the height of the pandemic for over a year and instead of rewarding most adjudicators with full-time status or PTO benefits, they give you a nice little bonus and a.
For a position that helped make crucial decisions in regards to Arizona's economy for those in need everyone during the pandemic , you'd feel they would compensate much better. Pros Some cool managers and co-workers, pretty easy to get a day off none paid though , rewarding work experience.
Cons Pay, benefits, full-time offers, no leave or PTO accrual, and no uniformly followed policy. It's a glorified case management position, despite what others may indicate.
