Installing libgpod
Unfortunately i'm still running Gutsy and haven't wrapped my head around KDE4 yet. Enough of the rant. Here it goes:. This one was easy. Just for reference here are the intrepid paths.
Then restore your sources. Followed by another apt-get update. Now get the amarok sources from the gutsy repo. We need to start with dpkg because libgpod requires some help from it for building.
We will not install this package. The apt-get was run after it complained about these missing. As already indicated, trying to install this is not a good idea and makes apt very upset.
So instead i "Borrowed" dpkg-gensymbols and friends real quick to make the libgpod build happy. Then rebuild the package. If you're interested in the packages, but too lazy to build them yourself, you can just download them here:.

Sylvain Pineau Sylvain Pineau Thanks for the suggestion, I do in fact not have this. However, when I try to install it I get the error: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libgpod-dev : Depends: libimobiledevice-dev but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Any ideas? Try forcing the installation of the archive version I think you set up a ppa that installed this 1. And try again to install libgpod-dev — Sylvain Pineau. Also, member tracks in the Podcasts playlist are not normally members of the MPL so on the iPod they will only show up under the Podcasts menu. Each track can have a thumbnail associated with it.
Please note that iTunes additionally stores the artwork as tags in the original music file. That's also from where the data is read when artwork is displayed in iTunes, and there can be more than one piece of artwork. As a consequence, if iTunes attempts to access the artwork, it will find none, and remove libgpod's artwork. Luckily, iTunes will only attempt to access the artwork if you select a track in iTunes.
To work around this, gtkpod keeps a list of the original filename of all artwork and silently adds the thumbnails if they were 'lost'. Your application might want to do something similar, or you can supply patches for optionally! For more information I would advice to have a look at gtkpod's source code.
